kiriti Roy [কিরীটী রায়] is a fictional detective character written by Nihar Ranjan Gupta.
Nihar Ranjan Gupta is an Indian Bengali novel writer and physician. He was born in Jessore, Bengal in 1911. In the second world war, he worked as an army doctor. Then he went to England for his study and became a dermatologist. In England, he met Agatha Christie, the famous detective writer. Then, he became influenced to write detective books. After that, he came back to India and wrote his first detective book "Kalo Bhromor". He introduced a detective character named "Kiriti Roy" who is still a legend in Bengali detective fictions. He wrote 80 stories of detective Kiriti Roy.
Kiriti Roy is an intelligent person with good appearence. He is somewhat like Sherlock Holmes in his appearence. His height is 6 feet 2 inches. He wears overcoat and cap. He also smokes pipe like Holmes. He solves mysteries with his assistant "Subroto Roy". Subroto is also a narrator of Kiriti's stories.
